Since January 1, 2017, Tommaso Moramarco, senior researcher with IRPI CNR, is the new president of the Società Idrologica Italiana (SII). SII (http://www.sii-ihs.it/) aims to enable progress, enhancement and dissemination of Hydrological Sciences promoting the coordination and multidisciplinary collaboration in research aimed at qualitative and quantitative description of all components of the hydrological cycle processes. In particular, important themes are the flood forecasting, the natural hazards assessment and mitigation of extreme hydrological events along with the water resource management even in a climate change context. For this reason, SII fosters the tight cooperation among Research Institutions (like CNR and University), Ministries, Public Authorities and Private Consultants.
