On July, 19-20, the National Department of Civil Protection (DPC) held a course, in collaboration with IRPI-CNR and CIMA foundation, for the operators of the regional Civil Protection Centres in Italy on the theme “SATELLITE SOIL MOISTURE PRODUCTS FOR THE OPERATIONAL APPLICATION OF THE CIVIL PROTECTION CENTRES”. The course was held at DPC in Rome and eleven Regional Centres participated. The accuracy of satellite soil moisture products, their relevance for hydrological alert, and their implementation in the Civil Protection System was discussed. Finally, participants carried out a practical exercise that was found to be successfully.
