Angelica Tarpanelli at IWMI, Sri Lanka

From May 23 to June 3, Angelica Tarpanelli researcher at the IRPI of Perugia was invited by International Water Management Institute (IWMI), Colombo (Sri Lanka), within the collaboration on:

1) the estimation of the river discharge through the use of satellite imagery on Niger-Benue river system in Nigeria;
2) the mapping of the flooded areas in the Bihar region of India;
3) the hydraulic modelling and the estimation of floods along the Godavari River in India.

The meeting focused on presentations and discussions between the researcher and the staff of IWMI to explain and analyze the algorithms used in the project, the achieved results and to assess the potential of satellite data also for operational activities aimed to the floods prediction in developing countries.
