Her research activity, carried out mainly at the Institute of Electromagnetic Sensing for the Environment (IREA), deals with the use of remote data (satellite, airborne, proximal sensing) for the study and characterization of inland water quality through the application of remote sensing techniques to various lake and coastal environments. At the Research Institute for Hydro-Geological Protection (IRPI) the research concerns the study of high elevated mountain environments and glacial and periglacial areas, shifting the focus of remote sensing applications to land surfaces as well.

During her career, she has participated in about ten research projects, in which she has been involved in field data collection, data analysis and remote image processing, and writing scientific project reports. She has partecipated in fieldwork activities in Italy and abroad (e.g., alpine lakes in Nepal). She is author/co-author of about fifty contributions including journal articles, proceedings of national and international conferences, book chapters.
