MSc and PhD in Earth Science at the University of Torino studying deep-seated gravitational slope deformations, landslides monitoring systems, and early warning procedures. He started to work at the Research Institute for Geo-Hydrological Protection of the Italian National Research Council in 2004, and he became a scientific researcher in 2009. Scientific coordinator of Geohazard Monitoring Group since 2015, he works in particular on the development of new methodologies and systems for geo-hydrological processes monitoring. In particular, he focused his attention on the use of monitoring systems for the improvement of the geological model of large slopes instabilities and correct management of early warning systems. Recently, he concentrated his attention on the definition of a communication strategy for correct management and dissemination of slope instabilities monitoring results. Since 2017, Chairman of the Commission C35 “monitoring methods and approaches in engineering geology applications” of the IAEG - International Association for Engineering Geology and the Environment. In 2019, elected President of the IAEG Italian National Group. Editor of several books and special issues focused on natural hazards and engineering geology topics and co-author of more than 80 international papers and book chapters.
