The development of the "Grotta dei Cervi" (southern Apulia, Italy) has carried out trough geological and speleological researches. The origin of the cave happened according to the concept of pressure-tube flow (shallow phreatic theories). This phase started not before than the lower Messinian. Phreatic condition and air flow dissolution probably alternated until the middle Pliocene. Filling cave and speleothems formation started not before than upper Pleistocene. On the base of a microclimate survey has recognized some features of the circulation of the air flows in the cave. Moreover, an hypothesis on the presence of an unknown entrance has formulated.
