Le attività riguardano principalmente:

- Valutazione dell'impatto dei cambiamenti climatici sui fenomeni franosi;
- Modellazione empirica dell’innesco di frane indotte da pioggia;
- Definizione di soglie pluviometriche in sistemi di preannuncio e early-warning per frane indotte da pioggia;
- Analisi di eventi pluviometrici estremi.

Stefano Luigi Gariano è ricercartore a tempo indeterminato presso l'Istituto di ricerca per la protezione idrogeologica. Lavora al CNR IRPI dal 2008 prima in qualità di collaboratore e successivamente come assegnista di ricerca e associato.

Istruzione e formazione

2017: Dottorato di ricerca in Scienza e Tecnologia per la Fisica e la Geologia, XXIX ciclo, Università degli Studi di Perugia. Tesi: Impact of climate change on landslide occurrence, hazard, and risk".

2012: Master di II livello, presso l’Università della Calabria, Rende (CS); argomento: “La difesa dalle catastrofi idrogeologiche: previsione, prevenzione e soccorso”.

2009: Abilitazione alla professione di ingegnere.

2009: Laurea Specialistica in Ingegneria per l'Ambiente e il Territorio, Università della Calabria, Rende (CS); argomento della tesi: "Analisi delle richieste idriche a fini irrigui ed idroelettrici nelle principali infrastrutture idrauliche calabresi: il caso dello schema Neto – Tacina".

2006: Laurea triennale in Ingegneria per l'Ambiente e il Territorio, Università della Calabria, Rende (CS); argomento della tesi: " Valutazione del rischio idraulico in un’area d’attenzione del bacino del fiume Corace".
