Studies:

Dr. Marta Chiarle received a M.A. degree in Geology from the University of Turin (Italy) in 1990, and his Ph.D. in Engineering Geology from the Polytechnic of Turin in 2001, with a thesis on glacial hazards. She has been a visiting scientist at the U.S.Geological Survey – Hazards Team of Golden, Colorado, in 1993-1994 and in 1997, and at the Centre for Natural Hazard Research (CNHR) of Simon Fraser University, Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada in 2008-2009.

Participation to research projects:

• 2023-2024: Presidenza del Consiglio dei ministri, Department for Civile Protection. Agreement with CNR-IRPI. Coordinator of CNR-IRPI activities in Task 5.1 “Risk assessment related to glaciers and permafrost in the Italian Alps and future scenarios”. Participant to WP1 and WP8 “Training and dissemination”.

• 2020-2023: “GioMon” Project: youth, Turin and the mountains. A research, experimentation, training and scientific dissemination project co-financed by the CRT Foundation. The project is partly the continuation of the RiST and RiST2 projects. Participant in the CNR-IRPI project. Responsible of the “Research Atelier”.

Arattano) nell’ambito del Contratto stipulato dalla Regione Valle d’Aosta (partner ufficiale del progetto MASSA) con il CNR-IRPI, per la “Realizzazione di servizio di messa in funzione di una rete microsismica sulla porzione del massiccio del Cervino circostante la Capanna Carrel, e delle attività di raccolta, archiviazione ed analisi dei segnali registrati”.

Responsabile scientifico dell’incarico assegnato al CNR-IRPI di Torino dalla Provincia di Torino, Area Territorio Trasporti e Protezione Civile, per la “Realizzazione di attività didattiche”.
• 2010-2012: Progetto GeoNatHaz – “Enhancing International Earth Science Competence in Natural Hazards Research”, an EU-Canada co-operation project in higher education, training and youth, 2010-2012 (http://www.geonathaz.unito.it/). Referente per il CNR-IRPI UOS Torino, partecipante in qualità di supporting institution.

During her career, she supervised 12 BSc and Msc and 2 PhD students, 12 stages of undergraduate and master students, in addition to 7 research fellows.
