Our History
The Istituto di Ricerca per la Protezione Idrogeologica (Research Institute for Geo-Hydrological Protection) was established by the CNR President on January 22, 2001. 15768. The Constitutive Act was first amended on September 25, 2008, and a second time on October 20, 2013. and a second time on October 20, 2013. 113.

CNR closed the Florence office

The Unità Organizzativa di Supporto di Firenze was closed. The Institute returns to having five offices in Perugia, Bari, Cosenza, Padova and Torino.

Unità Organizzativa di Supporto di Firenze

CNR established a new office of CNR IRPI in Firenze. The Institute has six offices in Perugia, Bari, Cosenza, Firenze, Padova and Torino.

Creation of IRPI

CNR established the “Istituto di Ricerca per la Protezione Idrogeologica (IRPI), with the headquarters in Perugia, and offices in Bari, Cosenza, Padova and Torino.
1994
Istituto di Ricerca per la Protezione Idrogeologica nei bacini dell’Italia Nord-Orientale

The CNR “Istituto di Geologia Applicata alla Pianificazione Viaria e all’Uso del Sottosuolo”, in Padova, was renamed “Istituto di Ricerca per la Protezione Idrogeologica nei bacini dell’Italia Nord-Orientale”.
1984
Centro di Studio sulle Applicazioni di Tecnologie Avanzate nel campo dell’Idrogeologia

CNR established the “Centro di Studio sulle Applicazioni di Tecnologie Avanzate nel campo dell’Idrogeologia” (CSATAI), in Bari. The centre was then renamed “Centro di Studio sulle Risorse Idriche e la Salvaguardia del Territorio” (CERIST).
1970
Flood in Florence

Following the disastrous flood in Florence in Novembre 1966, CNR established three new research institutes on geo-hydrological hazards in Torino, Perugia and Cosenza.
