Detailed work experience
1999
Internship at the Medical Physics Department of the Perugia Hospital while student in Medical Physics School at University of Florence; worked on radiotherapy planning, developing software for building patient-custom three-dimensional screens for radiotherapy cancer treatment.
2000-2003
During PhD, worked on many-body theories in nuclear physics. Responsible of the computational facilities of the theory group; designed and built a PC cluster; implemented many-body algorithms for the description of electron-nucleus interactions. Off-classes teaching assistant for about three years, for the basic courses of physics diploma.
2003-2008
Affiliated to INFN while post-doc at University of Perugia; worked on the integration of the local nuclear physics group experience on nuclear reactions with few-body systems to the many-body systems domain. 2008-2010
Started a long-term project for an event-by-event Monte Carlo description of proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus interactions, with the inclusion of detailed nuclear effects in the production of nuclear configurations used to initiate general purpose physics analysis both from theoretical and experimental sides.
2010-2012
Affiliated to ECT*/FBK, Trento, under the FP7 HadronPhysics2 infrastructure. Further developed the two basic research lines initiated at Univ. of Perugia (Italy) and Penn State University (USA). Participated the research activities of the Centre by joining several of the locally organized workshops; joined the activity of an ECT* senior researcher for the theoretical investigation of fundamental hadronic interaction, on the topic of gluon saturation. Implementation of a few complex algorithms within the AuroraScience computing project. Started collaborations with University of Jyvaskyla (FI), IRRNE (BG) and the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies (DE), which ended with a job offer.
mid 2012-present
Joined the Geomorphology group of the CNR Research Institute for Hydrogeological hazard Protection of National Research Council, in Perugia, Italy. Developed on a physically based model for rainfall-induced landslide forecast, collaboration with US Geological Survey; implemented parallel execution systems for Geo-Spatial processing. Refereed for APS Physical Review and other other journals. Co-supervised a bachelor degree thesis at Uniersity of Perugia. Published papers in Geomorphology and Theoretical Nuclear Physics. Collaborations with Unites States Geological Survey, University of Vienna, University of Strasbourg, University of New South Wales, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Pennsylvania State University and University of Perugia & INFN.
