RESOLVE is an MSCA Staff Exchanges project focused on developing innovative methods to improve the climate resilience and eco‑sustainability of railway earthworks, by analysing their interaction with geohazards, climate change and biodiversity. Bringing together geosciences, civil engineering, data science, ecology and life sciences, RESOLVE investigates how railway embankments and cuttings deteriorate over time and how soils, roots and vegetation behave under changing environmental conditions. Using advanced Earth Observation, InSAR, LiDAR, drone imagery and deep‑learning techniques, the project produces high‑resolution maps of geohazards and ecological habitats along railway networks. RESOLVE also develops Nature‑Based Solutions and eco‑friendly materials to stabilise slopes, enhance water management and restore biodiversity. Through international staff exchanges, workshops and network schools, RESOLVE builds a multidisciplinary community capable of innovating railway maintenance practices. The project ultimately contributes to safer, greener and more sustainable rail infrastructure aligned with the goals of the European Green Deal.
