The Agreement aims to establish a collaboration between the Po River District Basin Authority, CNR IRPI, and the Department of Civil, Environmental and Mechanical Engineering of the University of Trento. Its overall objective is to develop an advanced methodological tool (guidelines) for zoning ordinary hazard generated by hydraulically driven phenomena characterized by a high presence of predominantly non-cohesive solid material and significant planimetric and altimetric morphological changes (debris flows and intense sediment transport processes), to be applied in the hilly and mountainous areas under the jurisdiction of the Basin Authority.
The Agreement specifically aims to:
i) define a framework of the zoning methodologies currently adopted in the various regions/provinces of the district, in order to establish the knowledge base from which to develop the new guidelines;
ii) define the key elements of the advanced methodology for zoning ordinary hazard, particularly with regard to sediment availability assessment, process modelling, and zoning procedures;
iii) apply the proposed methodology to four pilot sub-catchments in Valcamonica in order to verify its conceptual and operational completeness.
