AIS, one year of inclinometer measurements in the Swiss alps

In the first days of November has been reached the first year of inclinometer measurements in the GUGLA landslide (Matther valley) using the Automatic Inclinometer System (developed and patented by the CNR IRPI). This test site, located at very high altitude (2950 m a.s.l.) has been an important stress test of the system with temperatures up to -22 ° C and snow cover also more than 2 meters. The obtained results have allowed a better interpretation of the kinematic of the landslide and to discover the depth of the sliding surfaces (just supposed until now) Moreover, thanks to the quasi-continuous inclinometer reading, was possible to investigate the relationship between deep displacements/air temperature and deep/surface displacements measured by the Permasense Swiss monitoring network.
