She is research scientist with the Italian National Research Council (CNR) at the Research Institute for Geo-Hydrological Protection (IRPI) in Perugia. She graduated in Environmental Engineering from the University of Perugia (2003), with a thesis on simplified modelling of areal average infiltration at the hillslope scale. From May 2004 to March 2008, she was a research fellow at CNR IRPI, Perugia, working on meteorological forecast assimilation, satellite data assimilation, hydrological modelling, geological and geomorphological modelling for the assessment of geological and hydrological hazard at different spatial and temporal scale. In 2006, she was visiting scientist with a CNR short-term mobility at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, Columbia University, New York, where she worked on the definition of empirical rainfall thresholds for the possible initiation of landslides under the supervision of Dr. Colin P. Stark. From April 2008, she is research scientist at CNR IRPI, Perugia. Peruccacci is co-author of 27 papers in international journals, and of 12 contributions in books. She was involved in the E2-C2 European FP6 project, in the INTERREG IIIB RISKAWARE project, and in the MORFEO project of the Italian Space Agency (ASI) for the exploitation of Earth observation data and technology for improved landslide detection, monitoring and forecasting. For the Italian National Department of Civil Protection she is involved in a project aimed at fostering the national capabilities to forecast rainfall induced landslides and the associated risk in Italy.
